Weight loss jabs: potential benefits, risks and my recommendations.

The hot topic of the moment is weight loss jabs, so I thoughts I would cover some basic facts including potential benefits, risks and my personal recommendations.
GLP-1 injections are medications originally used to treat type 2 diabetes, now widely prescribed for weight loss. Common examples include: Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro.
They mimic the GLP-1 hormone, which:
Slows gastric emptying (you feel full longer)
Reduces appetite and food intake
Improves blood sugar regulation
Can cause significant weight loss, but both fat and muscle may be lost.

Significant weight loss (10–20%+ of body weight)
Reduced joint pain, better blood sugar control
Improved motivation when weight loss "finally works"
Potential Risks
Muscle loss due to caloric restriction
Low energy and fatigue from under-eating
Dehydration and electrolyte imbalances
GI issues: nausea, constipation, bloating
Mental health concerns: disordered eating patterns, body image shifts
My personal recommendations if taking the jabs:
Strength training and protein intake are your priority to protect your muscles and metabolism.
Adapt your workouts if you experience energy dips or you will suffer from burnout and overtraining.
Ensure your diet maintains a balance of all nutrients especially vitamins, minerals and electrolytes even though you may be eating less overall.
Keep to a healthy routine of 3 meals you enjoy to avoid potential disordered eating. Nutrition is so important and not to be compromised in the pursuit of weight loss.
If you experience any side effects that concern you, please seek medical advice. Gastrointestinal issues are the most common, followed by the gallbladder and pancreas. Red flags are abdominal pain and sudden vomiting. Low mood and mental health changes are also a possibility.
When coming off the jabs, ensure you have the right diet and exercise routine in place, so that you don't experience rebound weight gain.
